How to Refill Stamp Ink?

In general, a new stamp can perform around 3000 markings. This use can, therefore, last several years. Over time, the ink runs out, and these markings become less and less visible. This indicates that it is time to refill the ink in the stamp.

The different types of ink refills are an essential complement to our advice for the purchase of your stamp. Here’s how to refill stamp ink.

Let’s start from the basics: what is the traditional and self-inking stamp?

The traditional stamps were the first to appear, the “classics.” Perhaps, for this reason, they do not have many advantages over the automatic ones. However, that does not mean that they do not have any that deserve to be highlighted, and that can win many fans.

  • The ink used is not expensive
  • Easy to clean once finished using
  • The matrix can have the image you want and of a considerable size

Of course, it has cons like you will have to ink the matrix every time you want to seal a paper. In addition to that, unlike automatic stamps with moving motifs, they only have an image that can be printed on paper.

A self-inking stamp is the modern version of the traditional stamp. Traditional stamps consist of two separate parts: the stamp itself and the ink. The self-inking stamp, on the other hand, is the ready-to-use stamp: the cartridge is already integrated and inked in the chosen color (the ink dosage is automatic).

It offers mainly defined and clean stamping. Since there is no longer the need to dip it in ink, time is saved, and stamping can be done with one hand.

The advantages of these stamps are:

  • Simple sealing
  • Ink tank that can be easily replaced
  • Moving reasons (in date and numerators)
  • Perfect for making many stamps in a short time

The best thing about these stamps is that you do not need to dip the matrix in ink every time you use it. The ink is in the tank, and it takes a lot to wet it every time you use it. There are also the automatic date and number stamps. This takes care of automatically moving to the next number so that you can quickly work with consecutive numbers.

The disadvantages of these stamps

But they also have their disadvantages. Ink tanks are not as economical as the ink used in manual stamps. Besides, if you do not use the stamps for a long time, the ink dries, and you will have to change it.

The maintenance that can be done to these stamps is practically nil. Access to the die is too complicated to clean so that it will have a much shorter life than manual seals.

As you can see, automatic stamps are handy when you have many documents in which to stamp an image, a date, or a series of numbers. However, their cost is higher, and they may break before a manual seal. On the contrary, they provide the possibility of using mobile motifs and being able to use different images on the same stamp.

How to Refill Stamp Ink?

For loading an ink refill, here are our tips for applying to avoid getting dirty and ensure refilling in one go. In general, the most common stamps are automatic ink pads and wooden stamps.

The first is a stamp, the inking of which is inside the stamp. While in the second, this inking is separate from the stamp in question.

Refill A Traditional Stamp with An Ink Pad and An Ink Bottle

In the case of a wooden stamp, it is necessary to use an inkwell that can be refilled or changed; otherwise, the stamps will not be visible. To do this, use a bottle of ink and gently pour it onto the foam or the ink pad fabric. The ink should remain in no case, overflow the case, one drop too much, and we will not see anything on the marking because it will smear on the paper.

Reload an automatic buffer with an ink cassette

To change the ink of an automatic stamp, you must buy an ink cassette suitable for the stamp model. You should place the back of the pad facing yourself. Then you have to press the pad down and lightly.

Once mobilized, lock it using the lock represented by a padlock. Remove the old cassette while removing the protective cover. Finally, insert the new one in the free space.

Tips for Pad Refill

The first precaution is to be taken during use; you must check each time if the stamps are still visible. For this, remember to select the best type of tampon offered by many professionals.

Ink for Self-Inking Stamps: Everything You Need to Know

Self-inking stamp inks are often available in various colors. Before choosing them, take care that they comply with the environmental regulations indicated.

As for most stamps, they use high quality, certified, and water-based inks. They are permanent, non-toxic, and follow the anti-drying formula.

Among the proposals, there are three different colors: black, blue, and red.
